Dr.Richards' Notes 1/31/04

Thomas has been making some exceptional progress since we began earlier this month.  He no longer has random bouts of shouting about "Mr.Tall"  never leaving or talking to himself.  I have discerned that Thomas' delusions were caused by Thomas' love of new things.  When Thomas was younger anything new excited him, but as Thomas got older, and lost touch with reality, he learned that new things can be bad.  I have discerned that "Mr.Tall" was nothing more than a manifestation of Thomas' fear of the unknown.  If everything continues on its current path I believe that Thomas will be able to leave some time next month.  I am so very proud of his progress.

Dr.Richards' Notes 1/14/04

I was finally able to continue my sessions with Thomas today, though he was still rather shaky from his episode last session on the second.  Before I could start talking to Thomas, he said, "He showed me things." I asked him what he was talking about.  He told me that "Mr.Tall" had shown him disturbing images that had horrified him,but that he was fascinated by them.  He started to describe them as organs ripped to shreds and people disemboweled, he began to cry and said, "What kind of psycho would be fascinated by those things Dr.Richards!?!"  I told him that he wanted to be a doctor, so he was naturally fascinated by the human body.  He began to calm after this.  He stayed in deep thought for the rest of our session, so I didn't make anymore headway, but I managed to help Thomas stop resenting himself.  Hopefully we will be able to determine exactly what his psychosis is now.

Dr.Richards' Notes 1/2/04

Today during our session Thomas and I discussed how "Mr.Tall" became apart of his life.  Thomas says that he's seen "Mr.Tall" for as long as he can remember, but only approached him when he was eight-years-old.  He told me that "Mr.Tall" was very old and had seen many things.  He told me that "Mr.Tall" showed him places, he showed him a cove by the ocean and that the wind never blew there.  He said that he and "Mr.Tall" used to fight pirates alot.  According to Thomas, "Mr.Tall" hates Pirate Captains.  I asked Thomas why he and "Mr.Tall" didn't get along anymore, but he just started crying and shouting, "HE WON'T LEAVE!  HE WON'T LEAVE!".  I hope that we will make more progress in the coming weeks, Thomas really is a good child and doesn't deserve to live a life plagued by mental illness.

Dr.Richards' Notes 1/1/04

Today I had my first session with Thomas Matthews.  Thomas' parents, William and Nancy Matthews, told me that when Thomas was eight he began to tell them stories of "Mr.Tall", Thomas' imaginary friend.  In the beginning, the stories were just that they played "hide and go seek"or that they played "Pirates", but as time went on, specifically around Thomas' tenth birthday in November, the stories became rather strange.  For example, one time he told them that they played "in Thomas' head".  His parents thought this, coupled with the fact that it is unusual for children the age of ten to still have imaginary friends, could be signs of psychological problems.  Near the end of November,(Thomas' birthday is the fifth), Thomas began to complain to his parents that "Mr.Tall" refused to leave even after Thomas had told him to.  Then came the night terrors where Thomas would wake up screaming that "Mr.Tall" wanted to take Thomas away.  Then Thomas started having panic attacks and would randomly burst into tears.  On December 27th, at 3:00 A.M., Thomas came into his parents' bedroom covered in blood screaming that "Mr.Tall" was going to kill him.  The police never identified whose blood it was, and Thomas took a lie detector test proving that he'd not killed anyone or anything, nor had anyone hurt him. His parents had him commited here on December 31st.  During our session today I only tried to get to know Thomas.  He likes the television show "Dragon Ball Z" and "Samurai Jack".  He also wants to be a doctor when he grows up.   I plan to begin discerning what exactly is going on with Thomas' psyche tomorrow.

Update

Hey guys it's John, and I'm here to tell you what's happened since Erics post on the 27th last month.  Well, we found an off-campus apartment to stay at, and that WAS all that was signifigant about my life until I woke up 3 days ago and found an envelope in our mailbox.  It had "Read Me" written on it, so you can guess what I did with it.  The note said the following:

"U-Haul Self Storage Unit 13
-A Friend"

I went to the storage unit the next day, turns out it was under my name.  When I opened up the unit, I found 2 boxes in it and a small box with a SD card in it.  In one were the files from Thomas Matthew's stay at St.Michaels Home for The Mentally Troubled.  They were his therapist's notes on Thomas' behavior during their sessions and what their sessions were actually about. In the other were two journals, Thomas'.  I'm going to begin posting the documents and Thomas' journal entries.  As useful as all of this will probably be, I still don't know who "A friend" is.  And I also don't know how he got ahold of the files and Thomas' journals.  My cough has been getting worse, but I haven't gotten the notebooks.  I've also not seen Slender Man in the past week, which isn't to say I see him often, but I will see him as I drive down the road occasionly, well enough to notice I've not seen him in a few days.  It was acutally pretty normal up until 3 days ago.  I actually got to enjoy TOONAMI without Slender Man on my mind.

Stay Gold...
